In our exhibition Views of the Collections visitors now have the opportunity to enrich their visit with various interactive tools, all funded by the National Lottery and installed by Superbe.

ENTER INTO RESONANCE

Music is omnipresent in masked traditions. With this installation by TiMMPi, visitors are invited to experience these different traditions by feeling the music in their bodies through vibrations, just like the performers of these practices!

GO INTO A TRANCE

To overcome the mystery of life, man has sought ways to explain the universe around him, often through forces that transcend human nature. To interact with or contact these intangible entities, humans have developed various means of mediation. Among the most popular of these is music!

Through this installation by Losonnante, visitors are immersed in a sound capsule accessible only to them. They can thus try to put themselves in the shoes of this intermediary by listening, in an almost meditative position, to ritual music from Gabon, Morocco and Laos

SMILE, YOU'RE MASKED!

If there is one area in which masks play a special role, it is in theatre! From Asia to Europe, they are found in many theatrical forms. By wearing a mask, actors transform themselves to fully embody their characters. Standing in front of the screen, visitors are fitted with a half-mask from the museum's collections. They can practise adopting a body posture to match the mask. In a fun way, they can thus learn about the codes of masks in theatre and all the symbolism underlying the transformation that masks bring about.
